Exclamation Computer to router connection failing

So for no reason my main computer will not connect to the router through LAN cable. It can see it but will not connect. Whereas the laptop i am using will connect to the router by both wireless and LAN cable.

I seriously don't know what to do and in need of serious and fast help.

When you say "see it but will not connect", I assume you mean will not connect to the internet.

Worth checking that you can contact the router's user interface -- put the address 192.168.0.1 into Internet Explorer's address bar. You should then see a log in box pop up.

If not maybe you should try a different ethernet cable to connect the computer and router -- or there's a problem with your computer's Network Interface Connector (check Windows Device Manager)

If you see the login box -- offer the user name admin and password sky and you should be into the user interface. Logout unless there's any setting you want to change.

Go to your Windows Start button and go All Programs, Accessories, Command Prompt.

At the cursor in the monochrome window type IPCONFIG /ALL and you should see some IP addresses appear. Next to the words default gateway should be the router's address (as before 192.168.0.1) if not you need to retype IPCONFIG /RENEW which may sort things out.

Has it been connected and stopped working or has it never connected? Did you have a previous ISP? Have you been connected by dial up? If so go to the Control Panel, Internet Options and remove the entry for the dial up. If you want to keep it as a backup, tick the 'Never dial a Connection' box.

      What OS are you using?
