Base of Router very hot. Is this normal?

The base of my router is very hot underneath. I'm a bit worried because it on the carpet. Anyone else having this problem? I dont leave it on all day and only switch it on in the evenings.
Also, browsing on the internet gets very slow sometimes. It reminds me of the dial up days. My stats are below. Any suggestions?

Connection Speed 12284 kbps 766 kbps
Line Attenuation 30.5 db 15.8 db
Noise Margin 6.8 db 12.3 db

      Welcome to the forum kopper

You should really use the feet that come with it and stand it upright but I wouldn't have it on the carpet either.

Sorry to sound a bit dumb but have you got any images on how to do this? The instructions that came with the router does not show anything

      Look at the legs

Look at the ends of the router

      See the holes

Clip the legs in one end on either side

      Stand it up
