      Router keeps reseting

      My router for some reason during the day keeps reseting itself. Its unclear why but it really annoys me as it means a reboot later in the day.

      It even happens when there are no computers on no phone calls. Sometimes happens a few days in a row other times it goes a whole week without any problems.

      Its as if ive told it to reboot. Any one know of something similar or a soultion?

      Im using the V1 router with the upgraded firmware V1.03.87.
      Thank you for any help.

      Re: Router keeps reseting

      At first sight your errors look quite low. However the rate in these sections is quite high, indicating that although your line is quite clean, it is being subjected to high interference for a short period.
      Previous 15 minutes time = 15 min 0 sec
      SF = 54291
      CRC = 469
      LOS = 1
      LOF = 9
      ES = 7

      15 minutes interval [-30 min to -15 min] time = 15 min 0 sec
      SF = 54188
      CRC = 470
      LOS = 1
      LOF = 9
      This is sufficient to knock your connection out. Unfortunately, finding out what is causing this can be very difficult. There are literally dozens of reasons for this, ranging from a phone being used on the line without a filter to lorry passing over a BT manhole carrying your line.

      As a start, have a look at what is happening in your house when the connection drops. Does your better half use a treadmill to keep fit? Is the washing machine running? Is someone making a phone call? Is the Skydigibox dialling out? If it is the latter two make sure filters are fitted and that they are working.

      You could also try disconnecting the ring wire in the Master socket. It is usually orange and connected to terminal 3. If you can't tie it down to something in your house, then it is being caused by an external force which is even more difficult to cure.

      Re: Router keeps reseting

      Hey sorry to bother again, but it still going on, but feels different. Using the black router now.

      Im not sure but I think I remember reading something about sky inacting something to try and get the most out of your connection.

      I say this because it seems in the morning when the connection can handle it, my router reboots to have that better connection and thus reboots later when it cant handle such a connection.

      I would just like to know if this is true and if I can stop these annoying reboots?

      Thanks

      Re: Router keeps reseting

      I doubt if DLM has effected your connection. It could be that your line just cannot handle ADSL2+ and may be more stable on G.DMT. This would drop your connection speed slightly, a few hundred kbps, but it may make it a bit more usable. If you feel you can drop a few ks, phone Sky and ask them to put you on G.DMT as your line keeps dropping with ADSL2+

      mmm, but this never used to happen until recently my connection was always fine until now, I would just set it so the noise margin was good to keep a 24/7 connection, but no thats just not good enough anymore. :/

      Re: Router keeps reseting

      Unfortunately telephone lines can deteriorate and develop faults. The fact that you were using the noise margin to stabilise your line means that even previously, it was not performing properly. Faults are always more likely to get worse rather than get better.

      Have you checked the things I advised in post#3? What do your latest stats show? Have you tried your Test socket?
