Re: If my Netgear router fails....

If the MAC address of the router is not blocked then by all means yes. But really i dont know what horror stories but the Sky routers dont fail. There are a few but every ISP has that problem.

If your router does by some strange reason fail and the warranty is still valid then Sky will replace it.

Oh and Welcome to the forums

As far as I am aware, in warranty or not, the t&c's state you must use a sky router so they would have to replace it. Not heard of anyone being charged for one yet.

Re: If my Netgear router fails....

There is a thread on the forum about Sky not being able to send out a replacement router out of warranty because "the computer says No!". I don't know if that was ever resolved within Sky.

But if push comes to shove, you could always pick up a replacement from eBay for about 10 delivered and follow instructions elsewhere on this forum to flash it up with firmware to get yourself back on line. You should probably retrieve your router's Username and Password and keep it somewhere safe for future reference. There are links on this forum to go to the utility to do that.

OF course, as others have said, you are obliged to use a Sky router on Sky's network, with Sky's firmware ... so all that I have said is strictly speaking quite a no-no.

Re: If my Netgear router fails....

out of waratys can not be done by Tier 1 within the system but the Tier 1 can escalate the replacement to their TL who raises the order manually. It takes a few days longer as not done on the spot but replacements for out of warranty routers can be sent out.
