      problems integrating new web-site

Hi all thanks for a great forum!!

I am trying to configure my router so that it will link to my self hosted website. I am using WAMP and have changed my a list details from godaddy to go to my ipaddress. However the problem is when I type http://healthtipsdirectory.com it just goes to the router page.

Whats up, what do I have to change to link to my website.

Did you specify your WAN address in the A list?

      Re: problems integrating new web-site

it just goes to the router page.
It will do if you are using your own Sky BB to see the website. This link will explain why.

How to set up port forwarding to an internal web server

Theoretically if you have set it up correctly on the DNS side, try using a neighbours connection to verify it is working.

PS - If you have told the DNS to use your Sky IP address, ie 90.89.89.89 then you do realise this IP will change everytime you reboot your router?

      Re: problems integrating new web-site

Sorry I appreciate I'm a bit dumb here but was does the following mean exactly

Check that the web server is accessible internally by pointing a browser at it's internal (NOT external) address: http://192.168.0.2. If that doesn't work, fix the web server before continuing.

      I'm getting a 403 error!!

How do I fix the web-server?

Quite simply means, open a browser, type in http://192.168.0.2 (which would be the PC's IP) and see if your website appears in the browser window.

      Re: problems integrating new web-site

Just a quickie cos I've almost got there.

What difference will using the ip at a internet cafe make are you saying in your guide that using the pc with the server will only forward you to the broadband router page but from else where you'll be directed to the web-site?

      Lee

also the http://192.168.0.2. link takes me to the server root opposed to the web-iste which is root/home.

      cheers

      Re: problems integrating new web-site

Its because of the way that the router works.

You will have an IP of 90.12.12.12 or similar, behind the router, ie your network you will have an IP of 192.168.0.2 or similar. This is why you are seeing the login page from your end.

You are trying to see a website, locally on an internal IP address. A neighbour or an Internet Cafe will have an external IP and hence can see the site. Not the router login page.

      Re: problems integrating new web-site

If I check your IP, I get this message, which shows to me that the ports are opened, you need to setup your site:

      Forbidden

You don't have permission to access / on this server.
