      a different router...

      Hello There

I got activated today (well my Sky Broadband did - I've actually been activated for several years now) but my router hasn't showed up. Everyone I talk to at Sky tells me something different; I was told by someone in sales today that it had not yet been dispatched, but told by someone in support that it was dispatched 10 days ago. Brilliant. Anyway, I asked the person in support if I might be able to use my own router temporarily until the Sky one arrives. Guess what? Go on, guess. Guess. HE DIDN'T KNOW! Incredible. So I'm really tempted, when I get home tonight and have no router but definitely have ADSL, to try my existing LinkSys router out.

The crux of my meandering thread is thus: has anyone ever done this? I'm sure I can use standard PPPoA and DHCP settings with a username password combo and get in. It must work. Surely. Anyone? Please help me, I'm lost without broadband and iTunes 7.0 is just desperate to be installed on my Mac...

      thanks all
      al.

Hi - welcome to the site btw

We do not condone the conversation on here of not using the Sky router, as it is against the T and C's of using Sky broadband.

If you look in the router forum or do a search on here, the answer is already on this site

Gonna have to lock this - hope you understand
