      Connection Issues

      Hi all,

I haven't been with Sky long but i keep getting issues. The latest is that my connection can be fine then suddenly goes from 'access: local & internet' to 'access: local only'.

I'm still connected to my router & can access it but i can't understand why this keeps happening. I try allsorts of disonnects & re-connecting & it eventually comes back, but it keeps doing it.

I have the Netgear dg934g, use Vista & am using a Wireless Network.

Also my router stays at a synch speed of 2MB. When i reboot & such it doesn't change. Does this mean i'm capped? It used to always change with my BT when i switched the router off/on.

      Thanks,

      Shawn

      Re: Connection Issues

Your profile says that you are not on Sky and using a non Sky Router. Which package are you on? If Base (free) then 2Mb sync speed would be correct and your connection should be capped at that.

For the other issues you would need to post your router stats to give any clues what may be happening.

      Re: Connection Issues

I didn't realise my details needed updating. I've done it now - i'm on MID.

      Here's my stats:

      Router Statistics

      System Up Time: 00:54:35
Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time
      WAN PPPoA 69698 129198 0 1374 59799 00:52:26
      LAN 100M/Full 739 0 0 81 0 00:54:31
      WLAN 11M/54M 130108 70949 0 58457 1416 00:54:18
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 2048 kbps 416 kbps
Line Attenuation 36 db 11 db
Noise Margin 8 db 14 db

I should be able to get 4mb but i'm not getting it. I've done all the test socket stuff to check things. I know i can't use speedtest.net propely anymore. I get high pings & then a ridiculous downspeed figure.

      Thanks again.

      Re: Connection Issues

On mid you should be able to get 8meg with an att of 36. Could you post some stats from the test socket. The high pings and ridiculous download results from speedtest sites are likely to be down to the wireless. Try a wired comparison if you can. You may be capped, if your nm shoots up when connected to the test socket this would confirm that.
