      PC Pro November Edition

PC Pro one of the best respected independant IT information magazines tested 11 of the most recent routers for stabilty, range, features and specifications, usage etc.

      Guess which came out top:

      Belkin. which got 6 stars
      Then Zyxel 5 stars
      3Com, D-Link, Linksys, SMC 4 Stars
Netgear (with a few others) second from bottom on 3 Stars

And finally Gigabyte (the pig's ear of all the routers ) which could only manage 2 Stars

So all you belkin knockers should keep quiet (i don't have one myself incidentaly).

More to the point the Netgear could only manage 3!!

Which Belkin model specifically Dingdong? I may have a look at getting one at some point. I've never been a big fan of Netgear routers...

Do you think Sky picked their router for cosmetic reasons as it looks like newer sky digital boxes and the sky+ box?

I expect they bought it on price, chances are they invited several manufacturers to quote a price 100,000 units or whatever and netgear offered them the best price.

I used to use a Netgear Dg834G wireless modem/router & I never rebooted it in 6 months at least. Rock solid, which is why I am a tad disappointed with this one...well the wireless side of it anyway.

Yes it funny how we all love our stable routers. Problem is this seems very flakey to me, doubt if i'll ever get to love this one.

I have a Zyxe for my cable con and would never change to anything again, so stable its never been rebooted at all in about a year.

I have had netgears and always found them poor quality and very unstable, so im not surprised there are issues.

suppose it could be worse telewests free wireless netgear was even worse.
