Does router need sending back after cancellation

Sorry if this is the wrong forum but i couldnt find any way to send an email to sky on there site without having to give them my address and phone number.

Basically my dad joined sky and recieved the DG934G router but he couldnt connect to the internet the router did work but there was something stopping it connecting and after many hours on the phone to tech support and feeling like he was getting nowhere he cancelled and joined another isp who sent him a new router. He asked whilst cancelling whether the router needed sending back the techie didnt even answer his question.

So basically what im asking is do sky want this router back or should i just throw it in the bin as it wont work with any other isp and is basically just a paperweight now.

I didnt fancy ringing up the call center so thought id ask here.

      cheers

The router is yours just the same as the sky digibox is yours.

DO NOT THROW THE ROUTER AWAY. At the ver least 'give' it to JAMES67 (Sky User - The unofficial support forum for everything Sky! - James67) on here for testing (hacking) purposes. I'm sure JAMES67 will fund all postage costs for you.

James provides invaluable support on these forums by getting underneath the secure front of the router that sky put in place. He has spent a lot of money on routers that have been 'trashed' through his testing and i'm sure would be grateful of any sky routwers that are gong spare to be able to continue his excellent work for the forum members.

No more routers please! I've got stacks of the damned things all over the house.

I really ought to unlock them and sell them on eBay…

Oh and as for unwanted routers, you're not allowed to put them in the household waste! You need to send them back to Sky for recycling, or take them down to your local recycling centre.

i would have thought if sky refunded your setup cost, you would have to send the router back

Yeah, that would be handy. For starters, I'd be able to create a firmware image that people could download…

you shouldn't give it to someone else as should you not pay your Sky bill one month and your account gets blocked so will the router so someone else using it will have no internet access!!

there's a free post address to send the router back - you might as well if you have no need for it...
