      Replacement router...

      Hi,

My Sky internet connection suddenly disappears after one year. After many phone calls from the technical support and customer services I've been told that my Sky router is likely to be the problem (only the 3 of the 4 lights on the router light up). The first conversation result in them promises to send me a replacement router in 3-5 working days.

But after waiting that length of time, it still not arrive, so more phone call, and this time they said the order has not been put through properly by the operator last time, so it will be another 7 working days now before the replacement will arrive.

Another 7 days gone, still no sign of the replacement, so more phone call, this time they said as the router's only has 12 months warranty, I will have to pay for this. I do not understand how this information only came into surface after the wait and why should I pay for a router when they are suppose to be providing the internet service via this gadget. Although my last conversation with them result in the promise of a free replacement router in 7 working day (early April), but can a kind person advise me if there is an alternative solution here as I read that using a non-Sky router could result in breach of contract?

      Thanks very much

      Tsui

      Re: Replacement router...

Who told you that you would have to pay? Last I heard they had not confirmed any pricing for replacement routers out of warranty yet. Customer services should have nothing to do with your situation as dealing directly with Tech support should get you the router ordered. It will take 7-10 working days to arrive as it gets sent from a logistics group and not from Sky directly.
Call tech support and tell them your router does not power up any more, when they ask if you have tried it in another socket tell them yes.

      Thanks Jessie-Lou.

I will see if my replacement router that the tech people promised me will arrive on 1st April (April Fools Day) with it being the 4th round of long conversations within a month I spoken to their tech and customer service people.

Will report back here next week of the result.

I also hope your pushing for compensation from them. I ALWAYS push for compensation as it's thier fault that you can't just use any router and have to use thier own one.
