      Replacment Router

My Router gave up the ghost sunday night (Black Sagem router). I went through all the stuff with customer services line check, make sure its connected etc and they finally say they will send me a new router.
Got my replacment (new black netgear) this morning and set it up then had a look at my router stats which were:

      Connection Speed 8000 kbps/416 kbps
      Line Attenuation 20 db/5 db
      Noise Margin 12 db/14 db

But on my sagem router I had these stats

      Connection Speed 9839 kbps/765 kbps
      Line Attenuation 23.0 db/10.2 db
      Noise Margin 5.9 db/11.5 db

Could a new router possibly cause this kind of change with my connection as at the minute i'm not a happy bunny as when was on G.DMT my speed was faster than that.

      Re: Replacment Router

It appears that the tech support person you were speaking to has dropped you to G-DMT and capped it at 8000kb.
You'll need the settings at the exchange setting back to how they were.

Yes you have been capped. During fault tracing with your old router Sky will have done this in an attempt to contact your router. You will need to get in touch and have the cap lifted.

Would capping account for a drop to Mid speed? Is it possible he has actually been dropped to Mid?

you must aslo have a pretty bad line, as with your attenuation you should have got the full monty (have a look in the cabling and faceplate forum for tip on how to improve your internal wiring, and when you get back on the max package, you may get the 16meg connection )
