      Resetting router

      Hi all,
can anyone tell me if there is a way of restting my sky router without actually turning off the router its self. My router sometimes loses connection so I turn it off at the wall, but its a pain when I'm using wireless laptop as I have to go upstairs to reset the router! Would just prefer to log into the router and reset it.

      Cheers

      Steve

      Re: Resetting router

If the issue is with the signal coming in (rather than wireless, say) and you have the white Netgear, you address the user interface (usually typing 192.188.0.1 into the IE browser address bar -- but see help files on Sky CD or tutorials on this site). Once in look for facility to reboot the router.

      192.188.0.1? I think you meant 192.168.0.1

And when he says it "loses connection" I assume he means connection on the WAN side, and not LAN side, or the correct IP won't work either.

      RTB.

      Re: Resetting router

could you post your detailed router stats (see second link in my sig and look for the mognuts utility), there may be problems with your line, which could be building up errors and "crashing" your router (not the correct terms, but all i could think of at this time of night)

if its not the line and just a wireless prob, i cannot help
