There's more to life than just speeding it up. I guess the fact that I can now deal with people that give a damn and are technically competent is something I consider has a real value. And in any case, I would rather give it to them for the service they provide than to Sky and BT ringing 0870 numbers to try and find out why I am not even getting what I paid for.

I certainly shall. Hopefully it will all work out but we shall see.

By the way, thanks for that excellent utility of yours. Why is all the useful part of the pop-up menu is grayed out unless you are directly connected to the router? I run my WiFi and internal wired sub-net on 10.0.0.x, not the router's standard IPs of 192.168.0.x by the way.

      Hi RTB.
As you have hi-jacked my thread I reckon I can have my say.
Irrespective of my views about the Sky Customer Support, it is very difficult to complain too much about the value for money Sky offers.
Before switching to Sky Broadband I used ADSL24 who are an Entanet reseller.
Those guys were positively brilliant with their support.
However, I was on the same connection as Sky Connect, ie the BT provided connection. It was costing 20 a month compared with 5 with Sky.
Believe me, if you have a crap line then it matters not a jot how much tweaking you do. Your new ISP can work with BT till the cows come home. The basic speeds etc will be the same.
Anyhow, the help you can get on this forum is just as good as anything I have come across.
      Good luck with your move.

      Ooops! My sorry.

But that's just it. According to the stats, all things considered (a service sold on price, BT as competitor and supplier, my distance from exchange, a 'vin ordinaire' router, indifferent support etc), I don't have a crap line; just a line that my ISP won't or isn't competent enough or can't afford to do anything about improving.

Anyhow, the help you can get on this forum is just as good as anything I have come across. Good luck with your move.
Thanks. And if it doesn't work out, I will be back no doubt. I'd rather pay 10 a month for a <2Mb connection than >20.

And I agree with you whole heartedly about the support you get on here. Some of the guys on here, and we know who they are so I won't embarrass them by naming them, do a truly outstanding job.

      RTB.
