      Sagem Router streaming HD wireless

Currently have my Sagem router streaming my High Def content through the house with ethernet connection and everything is spot on, but the wife wants the house done up and the wires removed. With the wireless option, could I stream the High Def stuff ok with the Sagem router? Would need to buy 2 dongles also so any suggestions on which ones would go with the Sagem router would be most helpful. Thanks in advance.

      Hi,

I stream HD content from my PC to my PS3 wirelessly which runs pretty good. Make sure you have a good CPU (core 2 duo) and plenty of RAM. As for wireless dongles i use the netgear WG111 with the latest drivers from netgear website and it always has full signal.

It depends a lot on the construction of your house, if you live in a modern egg crate with cardboard walls you will be OK. If you have an older house with thick solid walls, you may have problems. Why not consider a Powerline Network No extra wires and no bad wireless reception.

Cheers folks for the advice. I have 2 PC's both AMD Dual Cores and 2gb in one and 3gb in the other so should be ok. Will take a look at the Powerline and Netgear dongles later.Cheers again.

The Powerline adaptors are really good now. I purchased a pair before xmas from eConnect and can highly recommend them as a neat way to extend a wired network.

HomePlug is really very good but don't get caught out buying something that locks you in. Basically two chipsets are available Intellon and DS2. The most popular is Intellon and these are used by the majority of manufacturers such as eConnect, Devolo etc.. I think Netgear use DS2 in its AV200 product. The two standards are not compatible so watch out. I can recommend eConnect HomePlug eConnect HomePlug - Suppliers of HomePlug 85Mbps Turbo and AV200 HomePlug Powerline Networking Adaptors as they are the only ones I have seen that offer 14 day no questions return policy, so you can always get them and check they work for you so without risk.

You know using a onboard PCI wireless card saves CPU juice.

If the house is being 'done up' the better excuse would be to route the wires out of sight and fit RJ45 faceplates!
