      Sagem F@st 2504 wireless drop

Can anyone help? I have just joined sky broadband Max. I am receiving 9Meg through BT line but when I set it wirelessly, it drops to 3.7meg. The connection to my laptop show 5 (excellent), 54mbps speed. No problem with connection. I never had such a drop with my previous server. The laptop is at the same place as before. Has sky blocked this modem or it is not efficient enough to send the received meg through wirelessly? The customer service know less than I. Is anything else I need to do?

Make sure that the wireless type is set to wireless G, and that your wireless adapter for your laptop is wireless G compatible. If it is wireless B, you're unlikely to get faster than 4mbps.

Wireless G will never be as fast as ethernet. You can experiment with changing channels on the router and also the physical position of the router. Stand it on end and swivel it slowly around through 360o, giving it a few minutes in each position and check your speed, until you find the best position. The routers supplied by Sky are not really very efficient when it comes to wireless.
