      Re: router problems

Have a look at TT FAQs, I sure they say there that certain Netgear routers are not compatible with their service. I am not sure if yours is one of them.

It may be easier to connect the Netgeat to the TT router so you can make use of it's wireless capabilities.

In saying that TalkTalk do supply wireless routers, you can buy them HERE Unlike Sky, you have to pay for them

Meant to ask, hows your speed with TT?

      Re: router problems

Why do you think a V1 router, flashed to the latest netgear firmware, isn't compatable with TalkTalk? I have a friend using one and this chap seemed to think it worked O.K.

See This Page. The SKY router is a DG834GT not a DG834 V1

      ^^^^^^^
Yes, you should be OK with the GT model. I think the problem with the DG834 V1 is that it does not support ADSL2, which is required to connect to TT network. The GT does so you should have no problem.

If you have all the settings correct, as per Moleman's link, the only thing that can be wrong is your username/password. If you have not changed the password the default one is a complicated set of letters/numbers which are easy to get wrong. If you don't have your original letter, phone TT and unlike Sky, they will give you the current details.

      Re: router problems

The original letters you received from TalkTalk. They send the username and password in separate letters for security. This is from TT Help-

What is my username and password?
When you connect to TalkTalk Broadband we give you a username based on your telephone number (E.G: 01234567890@talktalk.net) and a password, both of which you will receive in your welcome letter. This is your username for connecting to broadband, and is not an actual e-mail address. It cannot be used to send and receive e-mails. This username and password is used to check your identity when you connect to our broadband server. Your computer can store them for you so you don't have to enter them every time you connect.
Your original password is a random combination of letters and numbers. You can change this to something more memorable in My Account.
If you've forgotten your username or password, please call 0870 0875 562 from your TalkTalk landline.
