Re: SKY ROUTER HOME NETWORK (Share Files & Print)

You can do this using the hub part of the Sky router no problems.
The Sky Router doesn't allow or disallow you from doing this, the only problem you may encounter is if you are connecting to it wirelessly and have 'Wireless Isolation' enabled (off by default).

Look for 'Network and Sharing Centre' in the Control Panel of your Vista machine or the Network Setup Wizard on your XP machine.

Re: SKY ROUTER HOME NETWORK (Share Files & Print)

Have a look at this artcle from MSTechnet for instructions on how to share files and printers.
File and Printer Sharing in Windows Vista

The commonest problem in sharing with Vista is having the correct Work group, so make sure the work groups on your Xp and Vista machines are the same.

You may have to download and install the Link Layer Topology Discovery to allow your Vista machine to 'see' the Xp one. You can get it

Re: SKY ROUTER HOME NETWORK (Share Files & Print)

The easiest way to set up XP is to open the Control Panel, click on 'Network Setup Wizard' and follow the instructions. Give your workgroup a unique name and make sure you use the same name on both PCs. You will be surprised how easy it is, when you follow the instructions of the Wizard correctly.

Re: SKY ROUTER HOME NETWORK (Share Files & Print)

Hi, i have managed to make the network with my XP computer and my XP laptop (insted of my vista one). I can see both of them on my network, but i can only access the laptop, when i try accessing the computer from the laptop i get an error message which says 'access is denied'.
Please advise what i could do to solve this.

Re: SKY ROUTER HOME NETWORK (Share Files & Print)

Have you created 'Shared folders' on the PC you can't access? Make sure you have elected to share them on the network and not just on that PC, which is one of the options.
