Intermittent connection, wired or wireless, Netgear or Sagem. HELP!!

Well, Sky don't seem to be able to do anything for me so maybe you guys can?

For all their wonder Sky don't have the capacity to send a bloke with a spanner to my house to fix anything so it's either a miracle cure or an angry cancellation and oath never to use the wretched company again.

Since signing up several months ago we have suffered from the familiar intermittent connection problem wirelessly. Of course, we've tried purely wired connections, and they also suffer from moments where we lose connection to the internet, sign out of Skype and all that jazz.

After five technical support tickets, all manner of 'tests on the line' and now a new router (replacing the old white Netgear with a new black Sagem), we are still paying Sky a boatload of money for an unusable service. I gather I can't even post detailed stats on my black router either, which is nice. We're in the test socket, we've got no problems on the line, it's clean as a whistle so Sky refuse to take it any further.

Anybody know a fix? Will getting a non-Sky router end our troubles?

If you have no problem when plugged into the master socket, then why not leave one modem plugged in there, run a network cable and plug the other in near where you need the wireless reception.

OR just stop using wireless all together as its a convenient but rubbish technology...

and Sky won't send a engineer to fix a wireless issue - install engineers plug it and that's it...

Try a different socket? Try a wired connection? These ideas are so brilliant that I've already tried them, and said so in the first post!

I've not got the white router to hand at the moment but I'll dig around for it and throw the stats up.
