      Intermittent loss of internet connection??

      Hi,

I have the Sky Netgear router dg834gt.

I am getting intermittent loss of connection. I am connected via ethernet cable. I see the router green "i" light is sometimes static and then goes Orange for a second or two. Then all of a sudden it will be ok and the green "i" light flashes quickly and the web page loads ok.

Are there any settings I could change to help this or is this my line.? Is there any checks I could do to diagnose the prob?

      Many thanks in advance

Sky User - The unofficial support forum for everything Sky! How to get your router statistics
Post your stats, if you are on the white V1 router you need the instructions in the main link, if you are using a black V2 then you will need the V2 instructions.

Re: Intermittent loss of internet connection??

going orange then back would suggest the line is losing IP address then getting it back...

EDIT: that would be the case with the V2 roiuter, with the V1 netgears it would seem the line is retraining so there's something causing the line to drop...

Are you in the master socket? Any extensions or other sockets on the line? Filters in use?

      Hi,

No not in Master socket. Off an extension from the master socket upstairs. Master is downstairs.

Got filters on all phones that are connected.

Total 1 master and 4 extentions

Re: Intermittent loss of internet connection??

You really must plug in to the TEST socket, behind the Master socket faceplate, this will rule out any faults in your internal wiring. If you don't have a new type master socket with a split on the face, all you can do is plug in to the master. Removing the ring wire from Terminal 3 on all your sockets has been known to vastly improve the line performance. The wire is not required when you use filters on all the sockets which are in use, no matter what phones you have.
