      Router/Speed help

      Hi all,

I've been with Sky for about a month now, moving from ADSL24. I am at the end of a very long line (apparently showing 11km actual length). I moved to Sky as it was half the price and with my Attenuation I hoped to get arround a 1.5mb line on Max. Unfortunately Sky said there where too many errors on the line. BT checked and repaired a fault and Sky replaced a faulty DG934G with a DG834GT (only after I showed my old DG834G was getting much better line synch and SNR)
Anyway, with ADSL24 I was on ADSLmax Synching over 512k and usually 768k with pings of arround 25-30.
These are my current router stats.

Is it worth my while trying to get Sky to put me onto ADSL2+ with these stats or am I just destined to have a poor service?

      Thanks in advance

      JT

The latter I'm afraid. Sky will not 'waste' an ADSL2+ connection on a line with your attenuation.

Have you done all you can to reduce internal wiring errors? You are still showing errors even with the severe capping.

Edit - I should have added, unless you really need the unlimited download, you should ask for your connection to be downgraded, you are paying 5 a month extra for nothing.

      Re: Router/Speed help

Thanks for the quick reply. I have the router plugged into the test socket, so thats as good as it gets. I'm going to pester BT about the poor quality of my line, even for voice calls. The pole for another, closer exchange is about 250m away from my property and when I check the number for the house its connected to it should get a 1mbDSL service,so hopefully on Max 3mbish.

I had seen other users posting on here with similar attenuation on the max package who were getting up to 2mb service.

Damn my wife and her country ways, my last house had a lovely stable 6.5mb line and I'm sure it would be closer to 12mb on max!!!
