Wasn't that Peter Hain's excuse

They must be having a very long look then. My router went out of warranty in August and packed in two weeks later. I'm guessing I was one of the first, if not the first to get this problem.

It took a lot of hassle and escalation to senior management to get me a new router and I only just escaped a cease and re-provide as their customer centric "solution"

Sky became aware at least then, if not before that they had a broken process. Five months later and still not fixed

Re: Warning About Sky and Routers

There are lots of Sky routers on EBay, (where do they get them from?).

In light of this thread I'm tempted to get one as a spare, but should I get an 834GT or one of the new ones?

Or just get a regular router and put my Sky Id's into it.

I used to be indecisive but now I'm not so sure!

Re: Warning About Sky and Routers

This is a scary thread.
I've been with Sky Max for 16 months, no problems.
How long are the original routers supposed to last?

I would never dream of flashing, extracting or ebaying
a router.

Re: Warning About Sky and Routers

Unfortunately, this is the case and its affecting more and more customers. Sky's problem resolution is usually along the lines of a month (or more) for system errors where there is no automatic process in place. It will get manually escalated to a software department who only process a certain number of requests a day. The queue is getting longer and longer...

To actually fix the software? Pre Active Cancels (which completely anulled the ability to add broadband to an account and affected thousands) were finally fixed in the system around 4-5 months after being reported - but they didn't tell call centre staff for another month or so afterwards.

I know someone who owns two Sky Routers yet has a closed account (and has never had broadband or TV) because of the many mistakes made when he signed up.

Re: Warning About Sky and Routers

I've been with Sky Broadband since September and was supplied an original (?) white Netgear router. I've seen a sticky for extracting the user data from the black v2 router but is it possible to extract the same info from the original router?

Re: Warning About Sky and Routers

It's much more easy to get your connection password out of the V1 router.

Details on how to do it can be found here.
