      bt voyager 2110

hi i have just placed my order for sky broadband max iam moving from bt
i just have a couple of questions is there any way of me using my bt voyager 2110 with sky broadband as it is a very good modem? if not is it possible to buy another modem other than the netgear v1 that will work happily with sky bb
as iam new to this why wouldent it be possible to use another modem arent they all designed to do pretty much the same thing whats changed in the broadband market that would only allow 1 type of modem to be used with 1 isp

You won't be getting a V1 router. You'll get a V2 router, either the Netgear or Sagem. Although these routers are not problem-free, they are said to work a lot better than the original white router.

As for question about why it isn't possible to use another modem, you're right, there's no technical reason for forcing people to use only the equipment supplied by Sky. Possible explanations as to why Sky have chosen to force this policy on its broadband customers include: (a) making it easier for them to offer customer support, and (b) to allow for future additional services such as "video on demand" using content downloaded over a Sky broadband connection.

      Re: bt voyager 2110

I`ve been using my bt voyager 2110 for six months now and have had no problems at all. The good thing about this router is that when snr starts to drop (normally loses connection with the netgear) it adapts the speed. With the netgear i had to constantly reboot the router.
You can`t use it until your sky router arrives as the user/password is locked in and you need to use a utility to get it.
