      Thumbs up stable

      Hi
      I rebooted my router when my snr went down to 2.6 at around 8.30 pm and it disconnected from the net.
      On reboot my snr went up to 7.2 and since then when I look in the morning its around 10.3 and at night around 8pm it drops to 6.2.
      I also put the router at the master socket, moved all electric cables 3feet away from incomming phone cable and tv arial cable .
      now its looking somthing like.I lose the wireless connection sometimes but a quick reconnect from the smart wizard and its running again and yet the router says it did not disconnect.Im sure a little bit of time will sort this too.
      all this info came from this forum
      so a big thanks to everyone

      hi, im new to this board and found it because of connection problems. i think its nice to know that im not the only one i will try the advice but wonder how much help it will be as following some of the advice i have checked my NM and its about 4.9. i understand this is low. How can i get that up? i am happy to drop speed for reliability Who wouldn't!!

      my stats are as follows:
      System Up Time 02:34:59
      Port Status TxPkts RxPkts Collisions Tx B/s Rx B/s Up Time

      Connection Speed 4331 kbps 380 kbps
      Line Attenuation 55.0 db 35.4 db
      Noise Margin 4.8 db 23.1 db

      Any extra advice?

      Still no joy for me - Just had another heated discussion with Sky about passing me on to Tier 3 (again).

      These are my figures currently;

      Connection Speed 15323 kbps 766 kbps
      Line Attenuation 27.0 db 14.4 db
      Noise Margin 10.4 db 10.2 db

      I have NEVER seen a Noise Margin less than 10, and yet I have just rebooted for the 6th time since 19:30 tonight.

      I have set Wireless to 108 Auto, and turned uPNP off, and I still get the same slow down issue.

      If i watch the Router Stats screen, every now and again all settings go to zero, then pop back to normal again.

      Any advice?

      Please help!

      stats

      hey mbb2000.

      are you plugged into the master socket? have you tried the test socket?

      also, your line att is quite high. 60 is the limit set for bt, until they have to investigate, but in my experience anything over 50 causes issues.

      any roadworks etc in you area? how far would you be from your exchange if you know?

      a good site to check this is www.samknows.com

      let me know

      also, firestorm_westy a low noise margin is not a good thing. around 10 is about average. in my experience.

      Basically as you have already done - just do a reboot - if you do it around 9pm in the evening and leave your router on 24/7 you only need do it once because your snr will increase to cover the worst period and it will therefore be ok the rest of the time

      Mine is 60 and works fine - the only thing that kills my connections is when the snr drops to below about 6.4

      Current stats at 9.38pm

      Your stats are fine rebooting will not help you. The above comment seems very strange it is almost as if you have a broken connection somewhere that intermittently reconnects

      How are you connecting - wired or wireless. Might be worth trying a different wire or card.

      Yes, I know - That is my point! Everyone says that the problems seem to be when the noise drops to 6 or do - Mine never goes below 10, and is still a total nightmare.
