what usb make of adaptor are you using.

also - you can turn UPnP back on - see if that fixes it

@ dingdong

I cant post any stats right now as i am at work.

i am using the netgear usb wg511v2 adaptor on my pc and netgear WPN511WIRELESS RANGEMAX PC CARD on my laptop.

But like i said i was on the laptop at the time i was making the changes to the router settings. i turned off unp and it would not connect to the internet - once i turned it back on it was fine.

OK post them when you get home.

UPnP seems well broken - if some have to turn it off to connect and others have to have it on. Netgear really do need to sort this problem out. It shouldn't make any difference either way.

Send a message via AIM to firestorm_westy

All was going well, yet again last night the connection dropped to a max of 137 mbps - Not happy with all this re-booting - Still no call from Sky tier 3 support.

Just to rub salt in the wound, I got my first monthly charge invoice from Sky yesterday!

Bye Bye Sky?

Hi guys,
This is my 1st post.
I have the same problem of the sky router locking up at least 5 times a day. I have tried changing the settings to the OP & rebooting, which doesnt improve the Nm at all,I have also moved the router to the master BT socket, with no improvement. These are my stats:

Name: Sky Stats 2.GIF
Views: 582
Size: 17.2 KB

I am aware that the problem is probably going to be the low noise margin, this has not improved when the router was moved, I find it a bit strange that my old router on f2s.com managed with a low noise margin & sky does'nt.
The router has already been replaced by sky. And I am using wireless.

My question is this, My 8 days cool off are up on thursday, So is there anything else I can try before I cancel.

Cheers.

Your NM is far too low - it must be at least 6.1/2 to even give you the bare minimum of stability. Do a SOFTWARE reboot and it should drop your sync rate and increase your NM if it doesn't let us know. I know you said you have done this but try the software reboot first.

If your sync rate doesn't drop and your NM increase you should ring sky and get the engineers to lower your sysnc rate to give you a stable connection. They will probably turn interleaving on as well if it is not on already

Hi Dingdong,

Have done reboot, Nm still low 5.7 for downstream.
This 'Sync Rate' you refer to, What/where is it.

Cheers

It is shown as the connection speed

Leave it for about 30 mins then reboot again.

Your connection doesn't look at all good to me - you should really be aiming at a NM of about 7 or more at this time of day to have any hope of having a stable connection in the evening.

Problem is, to get it to those figures, your are going to end up with about 2MB speed.

Have you thought about using a faceplate on the master socket and connecting your router only to the faceplate. It may give you an extra MB or more
