Re: Router Freeze, Loss of Connection Possible Fix

Am trying the fix as I have had lots of lost connections - around 20 in last 3 days.

My fingers are well and truely crossed and I hope it sorts the problem.

If it does I will repost and pass on my gratitude fully.

      THE SOLUTION ??? I HOPE .

Have just unticked the UPnP box after suffering constant drop problems and very slow speeds. Can't believe how fast everything is now and no drops. Why can't the bozoes at Sky support suggest this instead of keeping you on the line for 20 mins going through losts of stuff that does not fix the problem .

PS I also changed Mode to 108 Mbps which also seemed to speed things up.

Re: Router Freeze, Loss of Connection Possible Fix

      OK, here is my story;

I have tried Upnp and the 108mb wireless on and off and get the same result of surfing fine for about 2-3 hours and it seems as if my router is pushed off the sky network because I can't surf or ping anything on the WAN but everything on the LAN is 100%.

The only way to get back on-line is to restart the Netgear router (software and hard restart does the trick)

It also seems worse when the school kids come out of school (in the morning, if I am lucky, I can get more then 5 hours without a restart) but from 4PM on its a real pain!

Does anyone have the same issue as me, I have checked this forum and it seems to me people get cut off but less then an hour, which is a bit different to me.

      any-help would be great.

      (Exchange 01323)

P.S forgot to say, all lights are normal on the netgear when the Internet "Goes off"(green) and also, once I left the router "offline" and notice on the ADSL status page, it didn't have an IP address from Sky's network.

Post some detailed router stats as this will give a better indication of where the problem lies.

Re: Router Freeze, Loss of Connection Possible Fix

I think these are part of the problem :

Line Attenuation 50.0 db 31.5 db
Noise Margin 6.1 db 14.0 db

The attenuation is indicating that you are a long way from your exchange and your downstream noise margin is borderline from constant connection drop outs.

I could be wrong but I'm sure that you should only use channels 1, 6 or 11

      Channel 7

So do you think speaking to Sky and asking to lower my connection speed will fix this?

or can I do something within the router?
