I've not tried any this yet (and I will) but I have a few questions, which may have already been asked, but I haven't read all the posts.

      (1) UPnP is broke - don't use it - it can cause your router to loose connection with your wireless clients.

What does this achieve? My wireless seems ok.

      (2) Speed selection - either select Auto 108 or b & g

Again, why, my wireless connection isn't going, itís my internet connection thatís going?

My problem is that the SNR is dropping, and I can find no pattern as yet.

Last night at approx 19:30 I found the router was no long connected to the internet and the SNR was 5.9db

I rebooted the router which came back at 7.0db

I then ran various speed tests using YourSpeed v3.7 (SNR floated between 6.8 and 7.1) until approx 23:30 at which point I left it to run speed test every 60 minutes.

When I checked at 07:30 this morning the connection had been dropped some time after 02:44 (when the last speed test ran) and the SNR was 6.2db

I've rebooted the router and left it running so I'll see what happens tonight.

Again, sorry if you've been asked these questions before, I'll read through the all the posts tonight at home and will try the UPnP (nothing ventured nothing gained) to see what happens.

      Cheers.

I guess looking at your stats you are either along way from the exchange or your wiring is bad. Try connecting your router to the master socket if you can, i see you are fitting a faceplate that will help, but make sure it is done on the point where the line comes in - don't put it on an extension.
I'm confused My Router has been on now for 12hrs 57mins and is still working with an SNR of 5.4db

      Current stats:
      Down Up
      SNR (dB): 5.3 13.0
      Attn(dB): 47.0 29.0
      Pwr(dBm): 19.8 12.3
      Max(Kbps): 8320 1056
      Rate (Kbps): 7616 768

      Speeds tests Avg. 5.4Mbs

And I've still got UPnP on and my wiresless is still on b&g

So do I make the changes or what?

As they say "if it an't broke don't fix it" so I'll wait and see if it goes off by itself.

      Cheers,

Sky just rang me. They had been in touch with BT and BT have made certain adjustments to my line, slightly increasing the noise and giving me a faster d/load speed. Normally at this time of night 20:50, my Downstream is slower than this.
      We shall see!

      Well that didn't work either!

I wonder if Sky tech can repair cars? They know nothing about broadband!

You are getting a lot of packet loss as your max download speed suggests, but if you are OK with it then leave it alone. Note that a bout of bad weather would probably kill your connection

Re: Router Freeze, Loss of Connection Possible Fix

Here's my latest speedtest - hey BT say 4.5mb is all i can get due to the distance - and for £5 a month im happy with this.

if the router stays unstable ill LAN into it - no problem there i stil think sky are the mutts nuts!

latency is also lower now at 60ms but i am still left wondering why my router is synced at 7712kbps and i can only get max of 4.5? i know about the ten day training thing etc but in all fairness this thing was synced for 5 days before i started to use it.#

Maybe i should wait till after the 10 days and see.

Re: Router Freeze, Loss of Connection Possible Fix

      Hi,

I'm a newbie, found this site last night. Had awful trouble with my internet sessions logging themselves out every 30 mins or so. Ran the "fix" last night and not only am i yet to drop out but it is so much faster its untrue.

So without tempting fate....thanks very much
