Thanks a lot for the tip

I will now see if I can get Sky to remove the cap on my line, and let them know it was their crap router that caused the problem in the first place.

Re: Router Freeze, Loss of Connection Possible Fix

Can someone tell me how to do a "reboot" from the 192.168.0.1?

My connection has been very unstable and the stat are

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 10727 kbps 764 kbps
Line Attenuation 26.0 db 14.1 db
Noise Margin 7.4 db 12.0 db

NM will fall below 6db easily.

Re: Router Freeze, Loss of Connection Possible Fix

I thought I was the only one in the world with this problem when I spoke with Sky.
Have disabled Upnp, changed to Auto 108Mbs so fingers crossed.

I will report back if still having problems

Re: Router Freeze, Loss of Connection Possible Fix

I switched my UPnP to off and it seems to have solved the disconnecting problems but somebody told me having no UPnP can affect gaming, voice calling (MSN mesenger and Skype) and file transfers (messenger etc) ???

Re: Router Freeze, Loss of Connection Possible Fix

Getting sky to remove the cap is harder than I thought it would be, called several times to be told that a "line test has shown that the maximum speed my line can handle to 5236kbps". I eventually get someone to pass it on to 3rd tier and they lower the capping to 4864kbps :-( I call again and after waiting 20 mins on phone for the 1st tier guy to call 3rd tier and get no answer I get put on priority call back list and am still waiting.

Re: Router Freeze, Loss of Connection Possible Fix

Wow some of you are reporting fantastic connection speeds compared to mine!
      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 4032 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 41.0 db 25.0 db
Noise Margin 6.0 db 23.0 db

I'm connected via the yellow ethernet cable, have turned of the UpNP thingy, switched the wireless (for my boys in another room) to Auto 108Mbs ,but the bloody thing still disconnects or drops out, every few minutes!

Apart from screaming, and threatening Sky with legal action, I'm at my wits end.
It's way past it's settling in period by about two weeks.
I do have a BT 1800 Hg but it can't detect the incoming signal via the modem line.

Any hope before I top meself?

Re: Router Freeze, Loss of Connection Possible Fix

I'm on MAX and my Router Mode is set at g&b not Auto 108mbs.

Your Noise Margin of 6 is low and I would check your junction box.

If I can find the junction box, what am I looking for?
      Sounds stupid, but what?
