There is light at the end of a reset tunnel (only if your happy turning things off). after many days of frustration, tried the fix, and now up to over 33 hours online!! before i was lucky to get 20 mins. As my stats show, i am on mid package as my line limit is 3.5m (according to BT). I am disapointed that sky haven't dealt with this and how there aren't major headlines in newspapers about this can only be due to the power of the sky network.

Glad things worked out ok for you in the end. Problem is of course if you now reboot you will loose your stabilty and have to do the 9pm reboot. If it does become a problem i would phone sky and tell them your stable setting values and ask then to fix it so if you reboot it will reconnect with the same sync rate.

      Smile Thank You!!

I tried this and it worked like a dream. I can quite honestly say that my connection stays for at least 95% of the time (as compared to 95% not connected). I'd just like to say a big thank you

The only problem I have left now is the webmail one: I cant use my login because, apparently, the web server is down and it is an ongoing problem. I can still use hotmail or gmail so its not too much of a hinderance anyway.

Once again thank you Ding Dong for your help.

      Thumbs up

since doing the tweaks and the reboots things seam to be going quite well i think, especially compared with some reports we are getting from other users.
i am working afternoons this week so i haven`t been online between 7pm - 9pm which seems to be the worse times so i will keep an eye on that next week. thanks ever so much to everyone for there help and the fixes, cheers chris.

      BUMMER
thought it was too good to be true, 50+ hours uptime with no problems then today 10.30 am bang, connection dropped to less than 1mbps downstream(i`m on 16 mbps), had to reboot, this got me up to 8.1mbps downstream which i could live with if it was constant. I`m getting a bit annoyed with sky just now. wish i had stayed with virgin 2meg, never had any problems.
      moan over cheers.

Firstly, Mods please remove if this is against rules.

I have found a thread on 'digital spy' that give you details of how to decrease you sync speed & increase your NM. I wont post link but I am sure you can find it. My Stats are now:

      ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 1280 kbps 768 kbps
Line Attenuation 46.0 db 27.0 db
Noise Margin 17.2 db 6.0 db

I dont mind the low sync as I am only surfing & when I have fully tested I may increase it meself its only been 7 hours.

PS, Still waiting for tier 3, Its only been 8 days!

8 days is good - I have been waiting 2.5 weeks for Tier 3...

Having said that, I am not sure that they are not making changes to settings etc, without calling me.

My speed has been capped twice in the last 3 days (was 15k+, now down to 14k+, with a slight reduction in upload speed.)

Since doing this, I have not lost connection once.

My speed tests have dropped from 12-13 mbps to a constant 9-10, which I can live with for 10 a month.

Still, the real gutting part for me was when I called to cancel my Blueyonder last night (I kept both for the first month or so!) - They explained that they would have price matched, and given me a cable 10 mbps for 10 a month, and that it would rise to 20 mbps in December for the same price.

      Gutted!

I am still tempted to try and cancel my sky connection, and take BY up on thier offer. I have never had a problem with them in the past...

I am, however, outside of my 8 days.

What do think the chances are?

      Thanks,

      Paul

Aparently I have a note on my account that states that I can cancel after the 8 days. I asked them to put this on after day 5 of problems.
I am sure that if your broadband connection is not acting as described, you will be able to cancel.
