      Routers Internet Sharing

      Strange i know....

When i have 2 laptops connected to the Netgear Router, whichever one was connected first seems to get the lion share of the bandwidth allocation.

After testing it doesn't seem to have a preference, it really is whatever one was connected first.

e.g. If laptop A is downloading it hits around 1200 kbps and stays that high, even if i start downloading on the Laptop B. Infact the second machine only ever gets a dial up speed connection (usually around 20kbps).

      Any ides?

Any way to set the router to share out bandwidth equally?

This is probably a wireless networking quirk more than anything else. The router doesn't explicitly give greater precedance to one connected PC over another.

QOS would do it, but not with the Sky routers. You could try traffic management software though, Download Traffic Shaper XP 1.20 - Bandwidth management and traffic shaping freeware for Windows 2000, XP and 2003 Server - Softpedia or set d/load limits in the software on the laptops.
