Is there a scheduled date for this or has this already happened? How will we know if it has?

I'm reluctant to upgrade to the standard Netgear update, but at present I have to reboot my roputer many times per day.

      should be some time soon

as for your problems, you could have a look at the links in my sig to see if any shed any light on your problem,
you could also post your detailed stats (look for mognuts utility in one of the links) we can then have a look and see if anything jumps out as bad

Re: Is there a date for an "official" SKY firmware upgrade to the Netgear router

Thanks for the encouragement, but soon for sky could be anytime this year. I can't recollect them doing another firmware upgrade, so I wondering how they would do it, would we notice, or would we have to do it ourselves.

I've already had a look around the forums and already found mognuts utility and set just set the target noise margin to 9dB and hope that that will fix my "grinding to a halts", I just find it annoying that this should be automatic if SKY sorted out their firmware or used Netgears standard firmware, and I will have to reapply mognuts everytime my router is switched off. I've no doubt that leaving it on should not cause a problem, but we are now told to switch off the router when not in use for security reasons!!! Can't win.

Thanks for your offer; "post your detailed stats, we can then have a look and see if anything jumps out as bad". So here goes:

We have reason to believe very soon as in next few weeks if testing goes OK on current version.

The update is made automatically, you do not have to be online. However you router will need to be turned on.

Not to my knowledge (I could probably use some for my scalp ).

Just standard setup are far as I know, wire connection to my PC and wireless to my laptop and occasionally my PDA phone.

What is an extension? I did try TCPoptimizer.

whoops should have said telepnone extention, your stats did not show a great amount of errors bit were for a short time

are you plugged into the master socket (see first link in sig) ?

maybey you could post some updated stats (with a longer time) and then maybey a comparison from the test socket

Re: Is there a date for an "official" SKY firmware upgrade to the Netgear router

I'm afraid connecting via the master socket is not an easy option.

But here are some more stats as requested. Much longer as I've not needed to reboot since I upped the target noise margin to 9bD via MOGNUTS. You can see the current dB is 12.8, when last rebooted it I set it to 9dB, just shows the difference in line performance through the day, and how much I ,and many others, are missing by not having the new firmware.

Re: Is there a date for an "official" SKY firmware upgrade to the Netgear router

you may benifit from having a look at the cabling and faceplate forum (you would get the best out of your connection by fitting something like an adsl nation face plate and then running some cat5 cable to your PC)

i am sure the new firmware when sent out will help, but as your telephone extention gets older it may well degrade and give you more problems even allowing for new firmware
