Am I open for other people to piggyback/see me?

I've been on sky broadband with their wireless router for about 8 months now.

I've not got any wireless components in my pc though so i just wired the ethernet cable into the back of the pc for my net connection using the wires and job done, don't recall setting up any security or protection passwords on my router as its not being used wireless.

I have been told that even though I am not using it wireless myself, other people might be able to pick up the router and see it/try to access it/piggy back my connection. Is that true? If so, how do I turn off the wireless part of it so it only works through the wires?

It is possible, but so long as you've WEP or WPA enabled than it's likely only a semi serious lowlife would be able to do it - although certain suitable software is out there. Log in to your router, http://192.168.0.1 , you will be prompted for a username and password, they are admin and sky respectively. Under "Wireless Settings" remove the tick from the box, "Enable Wireless Access Point" and click on "Apply". End of.
