Well, I imagine that when the update occurs, the Firmware Version number will change to something other than 1.02.28

I sure hope this new formware sorts some major flaws out with the current V1 router.

No, everyone other than the testers has this version with the V1.

Will this make the router work at a SNR of 5-?

      ^^^^^^^
Unlikely, I think the idea is that it will adjust for changing line conditions so as not to reach an SNR of 5

In theory the Broadcom chips can survive with a SNR of 0.0 why should'nt this?

Re: Have They Release The Firmware For The V1 Router (white One)

Yeah, that's right. The idea of having a noise margin is to give the modem "headroom" in which to adapt to changing line conditions. Very well written modem driver code should be able to keep adapting until the noise margin is down to 0, at which point it should trigger a resync. Another issue with the way Sky has things set up is that a resync causes the PPP connection to drop, so the router has to authenticate itself and acquire a new IP address. That really shouldn't happen. The modem should resync, without pulling down the PPP connection, so all the end user experiences is 5 seconds or so where the connection seems to stall, but nothing more than that.
