      Unhappy Router Problems

      Hi all,

I've had SKY BB for a while now, and its usually been OK. For the past few days though I've been able to connect to to the router (and get an IP address), but haven't been able to access the internet.

If I power the router off and on again, it seems to fix it, till the next time.

Is there anything I can change, or is there an easier way to reboot the router, as I am usually upstairs and the router is downstairs?

      Thanks in advance.

      Re: Router Problems

There are basically two reasons why this type of disconnection can happen: The UPnP "bug" and line noise problems.

To fix the first, turn off UPnP in the router and reboot it. To fix the second needs more info - in particular what your noise margin is showing as when you get disconnected. Full stats would also help.

There are 3 ways to reboot the router: turn the power off then on, press the reset button on the back or use the reboot option in the router admin pages. The last can be done from any PC connected to the router.
