Ethernet working but wireless for 1 out of 3 laptops

I have managed to get the modem working with the ethernet cable and also got 2 Acer laptops working wirelessly. The problem is with my laptop which is a Sony Vaio. I can easily pick the network up but when I try to access the internet it comes up with a connection problem.
Other net based programs do not work either.
Does anybody have the same experience or solution.

      Thanks,

What error message do you receive? Most wireless connection difficulties are down to Security. Have you tried turning the security in the router off, to see if you can connect?

As above go into your router settings (192.168.0.1) and disable encryption, see if you can connect, if you can try turning the encryption down to WEP and generate and apply a network key for the laptops to use.

I have been into the settings on the modem and took the security off and also tried WEP. Both work fine for the Acer laptops but not for me. I find it so strange that there is no problem connecting to the network but I cannot get any traffic from the modem to the internet.

I have un-installed my anti-virus and turned my widows firewall off, still no traffic.

It seems a problem no one has encountered yet

Is this not the Centrino problem where a wireless connection cannot get an IP address properly? Is the Vaio getting an IP (and in the correct address range) from the router? I've seen this a few times.

To find out btw, you right click the connection and click on 'Status' and it should show an IP somewhere.

If it isn't getting an IP, you will need to specify one manually.

      FIXED>>>>>>>FIXED>>>>>>>FIXED

Cannot explain why it was fixed by what I did but here goes for anybody who has the same problem.

START - RUN - CMD - IPCONFIG ALL

Checked that the IP address was correct.......and it was.

Then I just ran a PING......................and guess what?

It started working...............I hove spoken to 2 IT Managers and both said they could not see how this would fix it but it did.
