Thumbs down Sick to death of these constant disconnections...

I've had it with these constant disconnections. My parents have bought sky BB Mid. First few months were great used the TCP optimizer got a max download speed of about 400kpbs! Thats fast enough for me.

But for some reason my whole experience has gone downhill. My router keeps disconnecting wether my SNR is 14DB or 8. I've tried all of the DB setting although anything above 17DB kills my line.

Now i found a fix when the internet light doesnt come up. (Even when flashing for servel intervals). I pick up the phone...then i wait for this crackaling sound then i hear several rings. I hang up then bobs your uncle the router working again.

It also seems to want to disconnect when i pick up the phone. I've run a BT line test (+107070 i think) i hear nothing in the background. But when i set me SNR to 14DB+ i can hear crackling..so i set the SNR to about 9ish.

I recently got a Error 300, Tier 3 were very helpful and they said it was something to do with some sort or pressure in my line when the connection doesnt close propely.

I am using an extention line to connect to the phone line in.

I get the same result with no extention wiring (using the grey wire that came with the router).

As you can see i have alot of CRC errors. Also if you want to know i dont have a test socket i've plugged the router into the MASTER socket and nothing esle i have only one socket in house. The only things i have plugged in are the SKY BB router (Dg834GT) and my (Corded) phone.

Also the ring wire is also reomoved both from the junction box and the master socket. The only wires ar ethe blue and white and the main wire coming from outside in the junction box.

This NEVER happened with Ukonline i've changed the filters and tried an ethernet connection still same results...

As you can see i've written alot thankyou for taking the time to read.

Erm, well in the stats you posted, there are no CRC errors at all, although the stats only cover a period of 12 minutes.

A total of 12 losses of sync over 12 minutes is pretty poor though.

You said you can hear crackling when you set the target noise margin on the router to anything over 14dB. Well, I think your jumping to conclusions there, because the target noise margin won't have any audible effect on the phone line. ADSL signals operate well outside the range of human hearing, so no tweaking of the configuration will make any change to what you hear when you pick up the phone. But the fact that you can hear crackling suggests that there is some kind of issue with the phone line.

Anyway I assume you meant to post a different set of stats from the ones you actually did, so post those and we'll have a look at them.

Re: Sick to death of these constant disconnections...

Just to reinstate what i meant i get a...screaching noise if you like...dont knkow to explain it but tis not crackling.

UPDATE:! I can speak and surf at the same time now at 13DB it slowns down my downstream speed but i thought of that. If i'm in the mood for download i'll just lower the speed and not call anyone.

have you changed the way you are connecting your router to the phone line ?

in your first posts you line attenuation was 58, then after was 57 and in your last post was 56 ?

Honestly, I promise you, ADSL routers don't make the kind of screeching noise like you get with dial-up modems. If you can hear a noise on the line, it's not the router, so I reckon there is some kind of issue with your line. Maybe there's a crossed line and the other line has a fax machine on it.
