      Wireless setup on Sky router

I would like to know if it is possible to setup the Sky router without physically connecting the router to a PC. I currently have a Netgear router wirelessly connected to my PC and will be replacing it with the Sky one, will it work immediately or will i have to phsyically connect it to the router to setup the wireless?

Yup. Your wireless card should pick up the new sky router just enter the WPA key and your away.

Also you wont have to connect the router and the PC up physically to get it to connect. In the CD it tells you to put the etherenet cable in. Then your connected. I would reccomend you follow the steps on the CD. If you really have to connect it wirelessly do this.

Plug in the router just like in the handbook your given.

Wait for all light to light up...wireless...internet..

Then switch on your computer and connect to the router wirelessly your wireless card should pick up the scent.

      Hope this helps.

Will it have a WPA key preentered? If so will the keyword be given to me on my documentation?

The Key is printed on the router and probably on a card you will receive with it. It is advisable to change this key as soon as you can.

As above the network key is on a sticker on the bottom of the router and on a card that will be in the box. If you change your network key make sure you remember it in case you need it or you may find yourself doing a full reset to get everything back to defaults if you lock yourself off the router.

Thanks for the help, i currently use WPA security on my network just now so will stick with the same key.

Hopefully the new Netgear will have the same sort of menu structure as the DG834G i have currently!

If you want to do this, you will have to connect to the router with ethernet and enter your existing key in the wireless settings. The settings will be very similar to your existing router.
