Congrats on the new router - the first one on here...

I wouldn't touch the software with a barge pole. There is nothing on there that you need. Just plug in the new router on activation day once your old one stops and hopefully you should be up and running.

This assumes that you haven't set up fixed IP addresses for your computer or anything unusual.

Nah i've got advast installed....just curious what was on the cd install?
There doesn't appear to be any doc's to detail what the install is....So wasn't sure if there was anything i would need or want to install?

In terms of setup, my pc's and other devices (wii, ps3, linkstation) are all setup for dynamic ip allocation.....So i think everything should work once i'm switched on.

I know this new router has not been hacked yet, but do u still think it would be advisable to run the following utility i.e. in an attempt to extract user/pwd details or to get the full stats?

Sky Netgear DG834GT utility version 0.4

Or is it not worth playing around; incase i balls it up?

      cheers!

Just joined Sky and awaiting activation but received my router today and it's the old one, so looks like the new router is not standard issue yet

could've been a mistake or still on public testing and you were picked at random

      Re: Sky's new router?

Maybe like you say, its random? and i've been choosen for public testing?
The dispatch note mentions something about phase 2....

The description of the product (on dispatch note) says,
"Item code 13931 - Netgear router phase 2 UOM 1=1"

I'd assume your routers were posted from UTL (Unipart Technology Logistics) in Rugby?

      Again, only time will tell....
