Reset your router so that the original key comes back, or plug in ethernet to router from your pc and go to 192.168.0.1 in the internet explorer 6 address bar, login using your sky login details, usually user: admin, password: sky and manually set a wireless key in the options

Do you mean Reset it? If so, Yes, It will just be like you have taken it out of its box and connected it up again. Everything will be "cleared" (Static IP Setups, SSID changes, ect)

I take it this is your Brother-In-Laws router/connection? If so, You might want to backup the current settings just in case he has setup port-forwarding ect and you fiddling might ruin these, See: http://192.168.0.1/backup.htm&todo=cfg_init
and then select "backup current settings"

      Re: Deleted Router Encrption Password

If your Vista Wireless Networking dialog isnt asking for a Encryption Key, It maybe that you have just disabled the Wireless Encrytion and not deleted the Encrytion Key.

You should really enable the Wireless Encryption ASAP as its not wise leaving it open.

You can enable it again from http://192.168.0.1/wire_sel.htm&todo=cfg_init and then hit the check box on "WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key)" and then Apply it.

      Re: Deleted Router Encrption Password

It does ask for an encryption key but i remember from my home
router when you set the encryption key you asign a channel from 1 to 4 then the wireless network computer asks for the encryption
pass phrase and a key number from 1 to 4 or this not required for this type of encryption.

      Regards and thanks

      Re: Deleted Router Encrption Password

I have a Vista and when I setup my Wireless, I cant remember it asking for any Channels ect, All I did was select my Router from the "Available Wireless Networks" inserted my Key on the next page and then after that, Chose the level of security on the connection (Home, Office, Open).

I might be wrong, But i think the older version of XP preSP2 used to ask for the Channels.

      Re: Deleted Router Encrption Password

If your not going to be using it, Just turn the router off, As tbh, If the Wireless is open (No Encryption) then you are very likely to get some randomer scanning their devices and will be more then happy to waste/use-up your bandwidth.

Then turn it on, When you are going to be putting the settings back on.
