      Re: Deleted Router Encrption Password

Thanks very informative .So the default encryption is wep but
my brother in law who knows nothing about computers has changed
his settings to WPA-PSK which is not something he would do.
Could sky do this remotely I wonder.

      Much appreciated thanks.

I might switch to sky when I get home for this forum alone.

The default is WPA/PSK. The guide shows that you can have WEP aswell as some devices have problems with WPA/PSK but the majority are fine with the WPA/PSK and it is alot securer.

      Re: Deleted Router Encrption Password

Tried connecting the ethernet cable this morning but using
192.168.0.1 with ethernet connected brought up unable to
connect to server.Yet when I do itfrom wireless it brings the page up
      but asks for passwords

I am almost sure my brother inlaw would not change the encryption
      key.
The sky signal is shown on the laptop as being excellent with an encryption of WPA-PSK.
Vista does not annunciate that this setting is wrong.

In Vista Wireless properties I have the following

      Original security key.
      Security type WPA -Personnel
Encryption Type TKIP.(The other setting AES indicates non matching network settings)

When I try to connect I get
      do
The connection to Sky08... was cancelled. This might be due to
      time out user action.Contact administrator.

Hope this does not confuse the issue .

      Thanks in advance.

THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN SOLVED BY TURNING OFF THE ROUTER FOR 15 MIN AND TURNING BACK ON.tHE ORIGINAL SETTINGS WERE CORRECT.MANY MANY THANKS TO ALL THE HELPERS FROM THIS FORUM I HAVE LEARNT A LOT ALONG THE WAY.

      THANKS AGAIN
      BEST REGARDS

      DAVE

      Dave

      regards

      Dave
