      Why use Sky Router

      Hi
      Just a quick question! Do I have to use the router Sky sent me or can I carry on using my old router????

      You can if you wish, but it is against the t&c's to do so. A read of this sticky will tell you all about it.

      Why use Sky Router?

      Because Sky Technical support will only be able to advise you resolve and issues ect and help diagnose problems ONLY if you are using the Sky one as thats what they are paid to support and have training in.

      The only main reason is that tbh, As Dholdi has stated, You can use others, But;
      a) You wont get support for it
      b) It is against the T&Cs and even though Sky havent been taking much action - When/If they do, dont say you werent warned.

      Having said that, I can give you a lot of reasons NOT to use the Sky modem!

      Netgear modems suffer from dropouts more than other makes of modem. ( Dropouts was an issue for me, so I use a Linksys modem. )

      The wireless range of the Netgear is rather poor, you may want better.

      The facilities in the router are limited, you may want more.
