      Change of router

      Newbie post...so please be gentle.

I wanted to use my old router rather than the Netgear one. Although I don't have the drop off problem as often as some other unfortunate users, I am having problems with the range of the unit with my laptop on wireless connection.
I used Mossywell's little bounce back tool and so have uncovered my user name and password, but no matter what I do, I can't get my router to work. Without getting into router details etc, is there anything stupidly obvious that I may be missing??
      Thanks in advance.

      Hi,
      Thanks for the quick reply.
I'm pretty sure that those were the settings I've used previously. Haven't tried it in a while as I got pretty discouraged of 4 hours banging head against wall!!
I'll read that link you put up and have a go again later.
      Thanks once again.
      Ian.

      Have you made sure these setting match aswell;
      Encapsulation: PPPoA
      VPI/VCI: 0/38
      Multiplexing: VC

      ?

Edit; You beat me to it.

A common problem is mistyping when you enter them. Cut and paste.

      Re: Change of router

Finally managed it!!!!! Thank you sooooo much.
The thing that I did differently this time was the VC multiplexing.
I've read the potential probs with the T&C's. I just hope that they organize that new Firmware upgrade soon and see if it makes a difference.
Sorry about posting my previous reply in the wrong place....lol.
      Thanks once again.
      Ian.
