It will do if you are trying from your home network. You can only view it by your external IP, ie 90.123.123.123

      Re: Web Server Issues Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you forwarded port 80 in your router to your Webserver? I have just tried your external IP and I get:

The server at 90.207.xx.xx is taking too long to respond.

      * The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
      moments.

      * If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
      connection.

      * If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

Question Re: Web Server Issues Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      Hi
I have recently got sky bb and have also recieved their dg834gt netgear router. I run a webserver in my house and host several websites, behind the router is this server. I immediately forwarded the port on the router to the internal ip of the server i.e 192.168.0.2 . But when I try to connect to my webserver using its external I.P eg 90.123.123.123 instead of bringing up my webserver page in loads up the netgear web interface! I have flashed the router with new firmware this fails to fix the problem I have also called sky they told me they were not aware of the problem and had no solution.
      Help
      Callum

      Re: Web Server Issues Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You cannot access your website from your adsl connection.

You could try using 127.0.0.1 on your webserver to see if you can acces it that way.

Check your settings, 192.168.0.2 especially as if it is running now I cannot access it. We know for definite that Sky do not block port 80, so it has to be a configuration problem at your end.

IE make sure it is incoming and not incoming and outgoing.

      Re: Web Server Issues Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have tried 192.168.0.2 and it loads the webserver page. The router is configured to forward port 80 to 192.168.0.2 but when I try to access it on my IP which currently is:
      90.207.190.xx
it loads the netgear login page not the server page why?

      Re: Web Server Issues Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Because you are on your ADSL connection, to view your website, you have to view it from the other side.

I cannot view your website on your external IP, so something is blocking it.

      Either you have not:

      1) setup the port forwarding properly

      2) You have a software firewall blocking it

      3) The site is not running

You will not be able to view it externally from your connection. It is a well known fact.

When you try to view the page does it show the password login box of the router or just a page cannot be displayed?

      Re: Web Server Issues Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Page cannot be displayed. It would only show the Router Login to me if you turned the remote login on in the router setup, which you do NOT want to do.

You are getting that login page locally only, because of the way that NAT works.

Try checking the 3 suggestion I gave you above.
