    Help!

      Help!

      Hello all,

      My activiation date was 19th September and I got my router yesterday.

      I thought it would be simple to set up so off I went.

      The router etc is all set up fine, I have the green stable light etc.

      However there seems to be no internet connection.

      I logged onto the router config page (admin/sky) and the connection seems to be disconnected. When I click on connect nothing happens.

      I have the base package.

      Any help would be greatly appreciated.

      If using wireless read the tutorials on this site as it may be a simple encryption issue.

      Sounds like you've not been fully activated - ADSL sync but no authorisation from Sky's radius servers, so no internet.

      You can call Sky, though they'll say leave to 3 days after activation.

      From what I understand of Sky's router dispatch process, the box your router came in should have been scanned, and that automatically adds your router's pre-configured connection username and password to Sky's authentication servers. My best guess therefore is that your box didn't get scanned, or didn't get scanned correctly at least.

      I think the only way you'll get a working connection is to have Sky send out a new router, so the sooner you phone them up to say the router's not connecting, the better really. Delivery of a new router takes 3 to 5 working days, usually 5 working days in fact.

      Oh silly me, I should have asked, did you have a broadband connection with a different company before?

      If you did, it is possible that the physical change-over of your line from the previous broadband provider to Sky hasn't happened yet. That would show up as you being able to sync with the exchange, but not being able to connect.

      Hi, no I have never had a previous internet connection.

      As Saturday says you will be told to wait till the 3 days are up, so don't waste your money phoning.

      Thanks for your help everyone. It seems as though the phone socket in my study room is not active so moved the router downstairs and all works a treat.
