Have you tried the various tips in the forum?

Are you connected wired or wireless?

Have you tried the TEST socket, behind the master socket faceplate?

Have you disconnected the ring wire from terminal 3?

Tried a few tips guides, tbh I think it's the lines coming into the property.

There's only 1 socket in house, which has no test socket behind plate, property very old. Wired connection. Not really sure what the ring wire is, sorry!

The ring wire is the wire used to carry the current to make old phones ring. Have a look inside the socket disconnect all the wires except those connected to terminals 2 and 5. In old properties there is sometimes redundant wires left in the socket which can degrade the connection.
