Angry Router drops connection - wireless

      Hi

I seem to be having major problems with the wireless connection. It regularly drops the connection from 54mpbs to 1mbs, making it not work.

I then have to disconnect and reconnect to get back online.

Asked Sky for help but they are useless!

I've disconnected UpNP (as suggested on another thread).

The signal remains excellent between the laptop and the router.

      Anyone no what to do?

      Thanks

I think I would try changing channels -- particularly if you can pick up neighbouring wifi. Try to move 6 channels from strongest neighbour. Also relocate stuff like cordless phone base station, video sender. If that doesn't help, it may be a line problem so post your router stats -- see tutorials.

      Here are my stats

      LAN 10M/100M 9186 24233 0 2 54 118:08:44
      WLAN 11M/54M/108M 4049909 4907146 0 5238 964 118:08:34

Connection Speed 12845 kbps 764 kbps
Line Attenuation 38.0 db 23.2 db
Noise Margin 6.6 db 12.0 db

I don't think it can be anytthing to do with interference becuase the laptop remains connected to the router with excellet signal strength, but has 1mbps s[peed (as opposed to 54mbps)

You should really post your full Detailed stats, as these will show if you are experiencing errors.

I don't know a lot about wireless, but I think the lower your connection to the Internet falls, the more your wireless connection speed will drop to try and maintain a stable connection. I stand to be corrected on this, but I am fairly sure I am right.

I had the same symptoms and loaded the Sky router with the latest Netgear firmware - all is fine now.
