How many access points can I have on the router

How many access points can I have on the router. In other words how many wifi connections are active. Is there a maximum number of users including the wired connections? I want to connect several PCs, a notebook, a Sony PSP via Wifi, a Sony PS2 via wire and a Nintendo DS via WiFi.

If there is a limit, then what determines it?

about 253 i think and up to 4 wired

sorry the limit is determined by your ip address range .02 to .255 for wireless and the four ports on the router itself

the more you connect the slower it gets of course. and the connection speed is limited by the connection speed of the lowest speed

in practice more than about 20 for anything other than email and web browsing would probably grind everything down to a snails pace.

can you connect the nindeno ds? does it handle tkip security? or do you have to use wep, the reason i ask is my son has one and i never really thought about how you connect it

I will check the DS features. We usually connect via one of the many unprotected WiFi connections in the neighbourhood. I have one close that gives 4Mb/s. I am using it while awaiting my line switch over to SKY.

      From the Nintendo site

      "More about WEP:
The only security setting that is compatible with the Nintendo DS is WEP (Wireless Encryption Protocol). If your router has WPA or any other setting selected, you will need to change it to WEP, or remove security, to play your Nintendo DS online using this router. You will only need to enter a WEP Key if you have WEP security on your access point."
