Angry can i use a different sky router?

      Hello all,
My sky broadband is active since yesterday but the silly bugggers failed to send me the router due to a failed previous order 9 months ago.
It could take days or even weeks to get another router sent out to me.
I wonder if i can buy a sky router from ebay and install it on my line? or have they locked the user name and password against their phone number?
      Please help!!!

I know if you already have a sky router you can extract your username and password from it and use your own router (all be it against skys T&C's). I have seen mixed reports on here as to if any sky router / username and password will work. Some say they are locked to a particular exchange others say that any will work.
It shouldn't take more than 5 days for a router to turn up. I suppose it depends on how much a routers gonna cost you as to if its worth trying or not.

Once you have your Sky router, you can go to this web site below and get the user name and password from your sky router.

Re: can i use a different sky router?

I dont believe the usernames and passwords are locked to the line in anyway, BUT if you buy one from ebay it may be flashed back to Netgear firmware in which case you would still need to enter your own details. If they were daft enough not to flash it before selling it then further problems could still be encountered, because if the seller is still using Sky with a different make router perhaps, and you plug there old router onto the SKy network and it trys to log on with a username and password which is already logged on I guess one of you is not going to get on the network, or worse case it could be flagged to SKy.

So in a nutshell I think you would be best waiting.
