      Re: 11 pm every night

      I was getting this all the time until I read a post made by Saturday explaining the situation.

      To summerise his excellent post your noise margin goes down for several reasons as the day goes on if that should drop below 7db then you'll get really flaky or complete loss of service even though you show up as "connected" you can either use the utility as suggested above to drop your speed slightly to improve it or if you just reboot your router when this happens at night it will reset the speed to give a noise margin of approx 7bd and should be stable for a while as the margin will go up during the day. (mine has been up for 2 weeks now without problems using this method)

      For some reason this should happen automatically but Sky haven't included it or turned this feature on at the exchange.

      Good shout adrian, just to add for those with high errors make sure your internal wiring is spot on ie no phone extensions, splitters etc.

      Re: 11 pm every night

      I get the same. Normal connection speed 12 - 13mb/sec. At about 10 pm it drops to about 100kb/Sec. Reboot the router and its back up to speed. Only been connected 10 days so I thought it was teething problems.

      Re: 11 pm every night

      You are both suffering very high line "CRC" errors you need to start by plugging into the test socket which is hidden behind the face plate of your master socket assuming it is an NTE5, this will isolate the fault to either internal wiring issues or the line. Run for a few hours then take the stats again. Rough rule of thumb is you are looking for CRC's to be 0.1% or less of SF "Super frames" transmitted.

      From the stats posted above showing 20% CRC errors.

      Previous 1 day time = 24 hours 0 sec
      SF = 5080613
      CRC = 1075466
      LOS = 13444
      LOF = 0

      Re: 11 pm every night

      I don't seem to be having that high ratio of SF/CRC.

      Last night was the first night that I didn't get any drop out.

      Your first set of stats the 21 minute one the errors were above tolerance strange! Anyway yours could be due to falling nise margin, if your disconnections continue then you could try setting the noise margin slightly higher using the mognuts utilty.

      Re: 11 pm every night

      Ok, I swore I wouldn't do this, but the constant on/off of Sky Broadband was p***ing me off, so I used the netgear utility page to get my username and password and configured my old BT 2100 router.

      I have been online continuously for 48 hours, which is longer than I have been since I moved to Sky Broadband. My connection rate is roughly the same at around 11000.

      So I recommend getting a new router, clearly the Netgear sucks!

      Re: 11 pm every night

      Following Sundays drop out I decided to disconnect the bell wire from my master socket. I had previously done this for the extension running to my router.

      My sync speed has been set at 16328 since then with no drop outs
