      Error 0x800ccc6f

Since installing sky broadband I can no longer send email using outlook (XP) or windows email (vista). I can recieve but not send. I can however send via web mail. A "Telnet" test shows that something is blocking port 25 and I suspect it must be the Netgear modem. I have tried Netgears own support but as soon as they heard it was "Sky" they did not want to know. Has anyone else had the error message and how do you fix it?
      "An unknown error has occurred.
Protocol:SMTP, server response '554 originator address does not match authentication credentials, port 25, SSL, no server"
      Error:554
      Error number:0x800ccc6f

I use Tiscali and even their help site says something is blocking port 25. It must be the Netgear router. Help!

You wont be able to send e-mails from your Tiscali account now you are with Sky.
To do so you need to change the outgoing server settings in Outlook express to smtp.sky.com

You will then able to send mail.

      Re: Error 0x800ccc6f

THIS tutorial shows you how to set up your Sky account. You can set up one account to receive and send through Sky by following the tutorial. Then set up another account to receive from Tiscali and send by Sky by inserting the Tiscali server details in the Incoming server box and leave the Outgoing as Skys. This will allow you to receive any emails sent to your old address until such time as Tiscali closes your box.

      Re: Error 0x800ccc6f

I have now tried all the suggestions:

Alan B - I have already tried this approach.
Isitme - Sorry but I could not find a link to the tutorial.

Penrhyn - Problem solved. This worked!

A very big thanks to you all for your help/suggestions. I have spent hours trying to solve this. The answer is easy when you know how!
