      Re: Slow BB speeds

I am running out of idea's because your stats look ok, although the router hadn't been running for very long only 44 minutes, you could post them again after a few hours to see if there is any change.
Also try running TCP Optimizer, click this link and follow the instructions.

      Re: Slow BB speeds

      LOL

Well there can be many reasons for slow throughput, the most common being:
      • wireless issues (not in this case it would appear)
      • slow/overloaded test servers (unusual with Namesco)
      • incorrect TCP/IP settings (can be fixed with TCPOptimizer)
      • network congestion (unusual with Sky LLU)
      • gross line errors (not evident now)

      Less common are things like:
      • an exchange equipment fault
      • router fault
      • malware on the PC (eating bandwidth)
      • cache issues
      • other running software
      • LAN users running stuff or connection hijacking

Just a case of elimination I'm afraid though with the earlier problems I wonder if there's an exchange issue still evident.

Unfortunately I know nothing about MAC's so this is where I bail out I'm afraid. Could you not try someone elses computer just to test the connection?

      Re: Slow BB speeds

Like everybody else I'm a bit stuck for an explanation, but if I were you, I think I'd try to get a friend with a Windows laptop to connect to your router. That would at least tell you whether its a computer issue or a router/line issue.

      Re: Slow BB speeds

I've just ran TCPoptimizer on my wired windows machine, and after a reboot I'm still seeing the same speeds.

So it's not a computer issue. The router seems a little dodgey, is there any way if I could check if the problem's with the router? I've got a wrt54g but I don't think that supports ADSL?

      Re: Slow BB speeds

Unfortunately I don't know anyone else with sky broadband.

Are there any router diagnostics I can run? Or would it be worth upgrading the firmware?

Dont think firmware will make much olds, could try the test socket again. You haven't got loads of extensions I take it?
